Let Me Introduce you to Rebekah from Pixie’s Trinkets

I recently had the opportunity to interview Rebekah from Pixie’sTrinkets on Etsy.
Rebekah is a successful Artist, designer and Etsy Shop owner.
You will find beautifully designed and crafted jewelry of all types at Pixie’s Trinkets.
A great place to shop and treat yourself (or someone else) with a splash of color and style!
Vibrant, fun and fresh!!

A Short Bio on Rebekah

Rebekah’s Family is from Pennsylvania, However thanks to the Air force she grew up all over the United States. For as long as Rebekah can remember she has been crafting. Rebakah can recall a friend of the family teaching her how to make a pair of earrings with some vintage beads and wire, she has pretty much been a self taught artist since then. When she sees something cool or something she just wants to make she will try it out and work on it until she gets it right!

Rebekah has always found crafting to be a lot of fun and a great hobby but she thinks she really discovered her talents much later, Especially when people starting to notice her jewelry and requesting pieces from her!

Rebekah loves to mix colors and textures together; she would describe her work as eclectic and her style Bohemian. She is not afraid to try things out and loves all different styles. There is definitely a great mix and variety in her shop, catering to all different styles.

When asked to describe her style Rebekah remarked:

“My style is all over the place. When I’m in my office working, I listen to my mp3.
There’s all kinds of stuff on there, from Sinatra, to Owl city, to Nicki Minaj, to Patsy
Cline. If I had to define it in one word, it would be bohemian. I find myself using
that tag a lot!!’’

I asked Rebekah who or what has had the greatest influence on her and what inspires her to keep going and motivated?

“I have a very close friend who talked me into selling my work online. He asks
me all the time about my sales, how my shop is doing, what I’m making. He
keeps me going when I have artist’s block. (if there is such a thing!?)
I also stay motivated because I have a very stressful and hectic day job
working in an ER. When I come home after a long day, I lock myself in my
office, turn on some tunes, and I can be do or make whatever I want. It’s very

Can you give us a visual of your workspace?

“My office, two words: mass chaos!!! Two desks, tons of shelves, boxes, a
computer, printer. Lots and lots of colourful pictures and things to play with
when I’m trying to come up with new ideas.”

How many hours a day or week do you create or spend time on your shop?

“I try to spend an hour a day on my shop when I’m working my other job. On my
days off I probably spend way too much time there!! I put at least one full day a
week in. I’m always doing something.”

Rebekah how does creating art make you feel?

“Amazing!!Everything I make is a little piece of me. When I get feedback about
something someone has bought, and they love it, it makes me so happy to
have been able to do that for them!!”

How has your experience been on Etsy?

“I think it’s been positive. I had my first sale shortly after opening, so that was
encouraging. I’ve been able to meet a lot of really cool people, and have
learned so much.”

How do you handle the business side of being an artist and shop owner?

“The business side has been the biggest hurdle. I’ve never owned my own
business and have limited management experience. When i first started,
I thought, “I’ll try this, and if I sell anything, great, if not, I’ll just give all this
jewelry to my friends!!””

What’s the hardest part of being an artist or shop owner?

“The hardest part for me has been pricing my work. There’s always someone
out there who will question your pricing. I think people have to realize that
what we’re selling is handmade by one person and not mass produced.”

What has been your most exciting moment as an artist on Etsy?

“My first sale!!”

What are your goals for your shop, the future? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

“My goals, to keep doing what I’m doing now. Maybe add another site or two.
When my daughter gets out on her own, I’ll be converting her bedroom into a
larger office. Then I’d like to try my hand at a few other projects. Maybe open
another shop!!”

Rebekah, Do you have any advice for new Etsy shop owners?

“Get a good camera and learn how to use it!! Keep working to make your
shop better. Join teams, read blogs. There are all kinds of free resources out
there!! Use them!!”

I would like to thank Rebekah for taking time out of her very very busy day to share with all of us! Best of luck to Pixie's Trinkets! Please also find her below......
